TRAVEL SAFE
Travellers are looking for a service that provides credible and reassuring Covid related travel information. TravelSafe was designed to encourage them to make informed decisions while planning their next trip in a post pandemic world.
Role: worked independently as a UX Researcher, UX Designer and UI Designer.

Initiated the project by putting together a User Interview Research Plan. Researched on user goals, needs and persona through a qualitative user interview in a one-on-one interview format. The questions were structured, open-ended and aimed at understanding the mindset, values and behaviours of travelers in a post pandemic world. Interviewed five users in half-hour slots in a week.
TravelSafe addresses the need of the hour by providing peace of mind to frequent and hesitant post-pandemic travelers. In terms of future scope, the app can collaborate with hoteliers, restaurants and other tourist destinations to provide more real-time data in terms of occupancy rates, staff vaccinations rates, in-house safety measures and more.
There was continuous testing and iteration with the support of peers at every step of the project. Conducted User testing with five individuals to identify potential pain points. It was found that 100% of users found the app intuitive and were able to complete the tasks without any issues. However, it was also noted that the flow for ‘Add to trip’ button under the ‘Inspire me’ tab was confusing and 40% of users found the font to be too big and wanted to see more colors with simple icons for buttons.
In line with the feedback received, reconditioned the flow for ‘Add to trip’ feature under the ‘Inspire Me’ tab by introducing a ‘Favorites’ tab where users can add their favorite destinations to track Covid-19 related travel information.
Also, updated the font size to 12 in line with most user-friendly apps and added more colors and simple icons for buttons.
Based on the user research conducted and the user persona, I was able to identify ideal direct and indirect competitors for the app: Expedia, Booking.com, Google and Government of Canada. Conducted a Competitor Analysis  for all four organizations while simultaneously analysing threats and opportunities for each competitor.
Backed with this information in addition to the User Flow, created low-fi and mid-fi wireframes  visually detailing the user flow. Users can sign in to the app, add their travel itinerary or visit the ‘Inspire Me’ tab for information on Covid-19 related travel guidelines in less than four steps. Once this was complete, created a Hi-Fi wireframe followed by the Prototype.
Having identified the problem statement, brainstormed ideas and relevant features using the “I like, I wish and I want methodology. Additionally, created Value Proposition for the company highlighting the needs, values and beliefs of the industry and users which helped narrow down on beneficial features that address the user’s problems. With the help of the Feature Prioritization matrix , landed on the capability to track live Covid-19 stats based on travel itinerary, a feature that is low in complexity and high in impact.Â
Furthermore, created User Scenario that helped Storyboard the user’s potential journey. This led to the creation of the User Journey Map  for the TravelSafe app.
Built an Affinity diagram with insights collected from user interviews and condensed it into an Empathy map. Curated the User persona , Cautious Carol, who likes to travel, create memories and experience new things while meticulously planning ahead for her trips, and adhering to Covid guidelines for safety. This helped simplify and identify the problem most travelers face today (January 2021) – to stay updated with Covid-19 related travel guidelines as they travel.
